Ethan Zohn | A Story of Survival
Ethan Zohn gives the word survivor a whole new meaning. After winning the reality televison show Survivor Africa in 2002, Ethan battled two very public bouts with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. He became the “megaphone” for the generation of young people with cancer, embracing the role as an energetic spokesperson for organizations including StandUp2Cancer (SU2C), The LIVESTRONG Foundation, Gabrielle’s Angel Foundation, and First Descents.
Through it all, Ethan helped grow Grassroot Soccer (GRS), a nonprofit he co-founded that uses the power of soccer to educate, inspire, and mobilize communities to stop the spread of HIV. To date, GRS has helped to provide lifesaving education for more than 650,000 young people in 23 different countries. A former soccer player, in 2008 Ethan dribbled a soccer ball 550 miles from Boston to Washington DC to raise awareness for GRS.
Ethan co-hosted the two-time Daytime Emmy-nominated ABC show Everyday Health and has appeared on numerous television shows, including The Amazing Race. As an author, Ethan co-write, “Soccer World”, a series of five books for young readers to explore different nations in a compelling and meaningful way through the sport of soccer.
Today, Ethan tours the world speaking about character, leadership, resiliency, service and how his challenges have become a source of strength. He resides in New York City where he trains for marathons, likes to play pick-up soccer, unabashedly tweet bad jokes, invent quirky products like the EZ Crunchbowl and make crazy-healthy concoctions with his industrial juicer. Yes, his hair really is that curly.
