How to recognize spider mite

The plant, weakened by a spider mite raid, gets sick and eventually collapses, being exposed to a variety of killer infections. Interestingly, scientists have more than forty different species of this small pest that can not only carry infectious diseases, but also reward your favorite geranium or violet with spores of dangerous rot. Small insects that are not visible to the eye, as a rule, have a red, yellowish or green color, however, the color of this creature may vary depending on its environment.

Tick development

The habitat of spider mites is indoor plants, the nutrient content of the cells of which the creature prefers to saturate, leaving barely noticeable white dots or dense spiderweb on affected areas. Mites are covered with special bristles and have a rounded body. Males are much smaller than spider mite females, they can be distinguished by a more elongated body structure.
Spider mite is one of the most persistent pests, to get rid of which is not easy.
The larvae that did not develop into an adult insect, unlike an adult tick, are endowed with only three pairs of limbs, and only in the process of maturation the classical fourth walking pair appears. Interestingly, the rate of development of a tick depends on the ambient temperature and can vary in a time interval from 15 to 30 days.
In the fall, nymphs, which are an intermediate stage between the larva and an adult being, usually spend the winter and do not feed, hiding in warm places of the apartment, which is why it is sometimes difficult to get rid of the pest, even making repeated spreading.

Fight against spider mite

Recognizing a tick on a plant is not difficult. In the process of life, the insect weaves a very thin web, which, accumulating, becomes visible to the naked eye. It makes no sense to make a spider's web; it is necessary to remove individuals hiding in the plant and in the ground.
The mite uses the web not for hunting (as the spider does), but for reproduction and movement.
Mite - the real enemy of indoor plants and crops to combat it uses special substances, called acaricides, as the usual insecticides that serve to defeat insects, simply do not act. The preparations of enteric-contact action, which are classically used for the treatment of houseplants, require careful dosage and correct and careful use. You can not use drugs that have harmful fumes, causing great harm to your health and the health of your family, because along with the desired result of getting rid of the tick, you can get food or toxic poisoning.
