5 Ways To Deal With A Crying Baby
The Simple Way To Soothe A Crying Baby In Five Seconds
Whether they’re hungry, or thirsty, or tired, or something else, it can be hard to grasp exactly what they need – and it can be exhausting to sing to them, rock them and try to amuse them for hours on end.
However, the history of soothing crying babies is about to change forever, with this amazing trick from paediatrician Dr Robert Hamilton, which shows you how to soothe your baby instantly.
Dr Hamilton, of California’s Pacific Ocean Paediatrics, demonstrated his technique, which he calls ‘The Hold’, with a very cute baby, who was calmed in seconds.
He recommends folding the baby’s arms across their front and then holding them with one of your hands.
Using the other hand, he grasps the child’s nappy, holding the baby at a 45 degree angle and rocking it up and down.
If your baby doesn’t respond to that particular trick, you can also try rocking the child’s bottom gently back and forth.
‘Everything you do is very gentle. You don’t want to do jerky motions ever,’ he stresses, adding that the technique works best on babies up to 2 to 3 months old, when they are light enough to be held securely in the position.
If the trick doesn’t work, he says it may be because the baby is hungry or sick.
